Give United 2017


The combination of a strong financial position and the generosity of Double Oak has created numerous ministry opportunities through the years. In light of the overflow of giving received so far this year, we are excited about the opportunity to share our resources with the wider community through Give United! Below is a link to the Give United 2018 Application. 
 

We are identifying a range of needs from different groups with the hopes of providing not just one big check to one organization but several specific needs for multiple organizations. We are currently accepting applications for funds through the form below. Applications are due Friday, September 7th 2018. Each organization will be notified of the decision on or before September 21, 2018, and the monies will be distributed on or before October 17, 2018

Abiding Hearts Home Care Ministry
Abiding Hearts Home Care is a Christ centered gospel based nonprofit ministry whose heart is to visit the sick, elderly and widowed in their distress (James 1:27 & Matthew 25:35-40). They re-engage individuals with a gospel-based faith family, connect them to available community resources, and provide on-going Christ-centered fellowship while meeting as many of their home and health care needs as we can. This sort of involvement is time intensive and gives Abiding Hearts an ideal opportunity to fulfill their purpose of making disciples by engaging the sick, elderly, and widowed  inlife-on-life discipleship.

Alabaster YMCA
Many of the families who attend the Alabaster YMCA cannot afford childcare. The Y offers scholarship assistance to families that are unable to otherwise afford a safe environment for their children after school to attend. Many are single mothers who would be unable to work to provide for their families if the Y was not able to offer such assistance. We would like to provide financial assistance to low income and under-served, disadvantaged families to be able to place their children in after school care.

aTeam Ministries
aTeam Ministries is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to offering spiritual, emotional, and financial support to children and their families within the pediatric cancer community. This support is given with the desire to live out the scriptural truth found in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. aTeam Fills The Gap Between Hospital Treatments And Home Care Needs.

Awaken
Awaken offers recovery resources for people affected by porn/sexual addiction, Education/equipping for ministry leaders who shepherd those affected by addiction, and training for parents on how to protect & prepare kids to live with sexual purity in a porn-saturated world.

Banks Academy
Banks Academy is a private Christian High School located in the East Lake community of Birmingham, Alabama. The school opened in August of 2015 and is located at the original Lakewood Baptist Church’s building. The new High School is entering its second year with 9th and 10th Grade students. Each year a grade will be added until all high school grades are established. Students that meet the qualifications to attend Banks Academy are awarded scholarships to help cover the cost of tuition.

Blanket Fort Hope
Blanket Fort Hope seeks to love and care for child trafficking victims through housing, services, and long-term commitment, and to prevent children from becoming victims by educating children, and professionals who work with children, about human trafficking.

Celebrate Recovery
Celebrate Recovery meets every Friday evening at OneEighty church in Springville. They are the largest Celebrate Recovery in Alabama. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ centered recovery program for everyone who struggles with hurts, habits and hang ups. They bus in people from Loveladies, Brother Bryans, Salvation Army Adult Rehab Center and Firehouse Shelter.

Christian Service Mission

Christian Service Mission seeks to connect resources with needs through partnerships resulting in healthier communities in Birmingham, AL. Their vision is to see communities transformed through Christ. 

Crosswinds Foundation for Faith and Culture
The Crosswinds Foundation was established to assist those who are interested in engaging the cultural shifts that are occurring in our world. Dramatic shifts are occurring in many areas of our society due to cultural influences. Crosswinds is a resource to provide Christians and others with the information and training needed to recover our historic-course by effectively engaging the culture with the message and hope of Jesus Christ.

Forest Oaks Elementary Needy Student Fund
The purpose of this fund would be to help provide services such as assistance with school supplies, school materials, clothing, field trips and other needs for the student population who is considered homeless or at-risk due to financial struggles.

Grace Klein Community
Grace Klein Community exists as an educational and charitable 501(c)3 non-profit providing relief to the poor, the distressed and the underprivileged, lessening community tensions, eliminating prejudice and discrimination and combating community deterioration and juvenile delinquency.

Hearts in Hands
Hearts In Hands is a non-profit faith based organization working in partnership with God’s people in the greater Birmingham area. They provide critical home repair services and wheelchair ramp construction to people who cannot afford them and have nowhere else to turn. Their group of skilled volunteers is dedicated to showing the love of God by helping those most in need. Many of their clients do not have family living in the area to help them. Hearts In Hands is frequently able to meet these needs, while sharing our love for Christ.

LIFE Ministries/ACFS Christmas Party
LIFE Ministries in partnership with Alabama Childhood Food Solutions is providing monthly and yearly ministry to women who receive food through ACFS's monthly food distribution. In 2017 they will host their 3rd annual Christmas Party where over 200 women will hear the Gospel and feel the love of Christ through a catered meal, presents, entertainment, and the opportunity to join a growing weekly bible study.

My Sister's Place
My Sister’s place is a non-profit Christian transitional living and treatment assistance home for women who are hurting, lost and in need. Providing so much more that just shelter, their goal is to come along side women and help them to live again. By following basic living guidelines and attending church, Bible studies and support meetings, the women will have the opportunity to develop a healthy support group helping them to put their lives, not just back together as they were, but to be transformed into all God intends them to be.

Oak Mountain Missions Ministries

Oak Mountain Ministries Inc. provides a way for the greater community to share with those in need; to spread love to those in doubt, and to demonstrate an example through volunteer services as instructed by Christ our Lord.  Earthly help for eternal hope.

Project Night Night

Projects Night Night provides items of comfort to homeless children - a book, blanket and stuffed animal, nested in a cloth tote bag. Age appropriate for infants to age 12.

Red Beans and Rice Ministry of Christ City Church
Last September Christ City Church started the red beans and rice ministry in Lipscomb, AL.  Lipscomb is a food desert which means it is a geographic area where affordable and nutritious food is hard to obtain, particularly for those without access to an automobile. Each month they make between 80-100 bags that hold 15 servings of rice and 15 servings of beans each, and provide them to residents who need help feeding their families.

Red Mountain Grace

Red Mountain Grace is a not-for-profit organization dedicated as a place of refuge for out-of-town patients and caregivers that are receiving extended medical treatment in the “Steel City.” Their foundation is in Christ, their heart is for Birmingham. Tonight, in our city, an estimated 30-40 families will remain on waiting lists at current hospital hospitality homes. Red Mountain Grace uses a strategic, cost effective, model that will meet the need faster and more efficiently than other similar organizations in Birmingham. They offer a personalized, gospel driven, approach to caring for families in their darkest moments.

Sav-A-Life, Inc

Sav-A-Life is a comprehensive pregnancy care ministry that is dedicated to offering free and confidential services in a loving environment to women, men, and families facing an unplanned pregnancy. Sav-A-Life Pregnancy Test Center offers hope by providing help and emotional support. Free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, abortion information, parenting classes, and material assistance are just some of the many services offered to empower these men and women to choose life. Their ultimate purpose is to affirm all life -- both physically and spiritually. They do this by sharing the love and truth of Jesus Christ in both word and deed. Clients who come to Sav-A-Life Pregnancy Test Center are shown the love of Christ without judgment or condemnation and every client hears about how he or she can have a personal relationship with Him. As a result, the heart of women and men are being changed by Christ's love. In addition, those struggling with past abortions are finding God's healing and forgiveness.

Serving You Ministries
Serving You Ministries serves as a ministry arm to area churches and partnering non-profits to provide relief, development, relationships, and reconciliation. They provide educational training, food, and clothing assistance Trussville area.

Shelby County Law Enforcement Chaplains Association
SCLECA ministers to the law enforcement and their families of Shelby County and to those situations in the community where the law enforcement are called such as fatality accidents, death investigations, death notifications, suicides ETC.

The Forgotten Initiative Birmingham
The Forgotten Initiative seeks to bring joy and purpose to the foster care community. They show Jesus to the one who feels forgotten by serving state agency workers, foster parents, and empowering biological families towards reunification by meeting tangible needs and providing mentoring and training.

Together Assisting People
TAP provides services that include mentorship, job assistance, personal development, and professional development to at-risk students in the Birmingham area. 

Transformation Ministries
Transformation Ministries provides biblical counseling to train and equip men and women to minister to the body, and bring inner healing and deliverance to the hurting. Areas of focus: Marriage (premarital and reconciliation); Addiction; After Care; Parenting Prodigals; Support Groups.
