Ways to Serve
Serving at Double Oak
Serving is a vital part of the ministries of Double Oak. We have a variety of opportunities in which you may serve. Scriptures tell us that each gift is given for a reason (1 Corinthians 12:4-6), to build up the church, and we encourage our faith family to actively pursue knowing and using their spiritual gifts within the body and the local community.
Getting Started with Serving
At Double Oak, we feel it is important for you to serve in the way that God has gifted you to serve. We help you do this by providing the opportunity for you to take a Spiritual Gifts assessment.
Want to Serve in Preschool, Children's, or Student Ministry?
These ministry areas require appropriate background checks and related forms before volunteers can begin serving. The forms required are listed below for your convenience. If you have any questions or want to ask any questions concerning our Child Protection policies, please email our Connections Ministry.
Two of Double Oak's core values are service and generosity. God’s Word tells us to “serve one another in love.” We believe that we influence the world for Christ, when resting in and motivated by, His great love for us, and we extend that love through our own hands and feet in serving others. Generosity means living life with our hands open and giving away our time and talents to others. His Helping Hands is a group of people who show mercy and love through helping others in a time of need. When you serve on the His Helping Hands team, you are using your gifts and talents to help our faith family thrive. Team members show His mercy and love in a variety of areas.
HOW WILL THIS WORK?
If you are interested in serving on the His Helping Hands Team, you will decide which area or areas you would like to volunteer. Once you decide from the list of available opportunities below, click here to fill out an information form and sign up. Once the form is completed, you will be added to the team. When a request for help is made, you will be notified by email. If you are able to serve during this time, simply respond to the email so that we can connect you with a need. Someone will contact you with all the information to fulfill the request.
Handy Man Ministry
This group will do home projects for individuals or families who are not able to because of life circumstances. If you have the skills and talents to complete “handy man” projects, this is your place to serve. Click here to sign up and start serving.
When someone faces a cancer diagnosis, a surgery, an unexpected injury, or the birth of a new baby, it is comforting to know that their faith family cares. This group will visit those in the hospital. Click here to sign up and start serving.
If you love to help others by cleaning or helping around the house, this is the place for you! This group provides help with household chores like cleaning and laundry. Click here to sign up and start serving.
We all know someone who has experienced an injury, a diagnosis, or a crisis that has changed their daily life. Even driving a car, going to the grocery store, or getting to a doctor’s appointment becomes difficult. If you are available to run errands, drive someone to an appointment, or sit with someone in need, this is the place for you to serve. Click here to sign up and start serving.
Sometimes because of life circumstances we are unable to take care of simple tasks in the yard. If you enjoy yard work, this is your place to serve. Click here to sign up and start serving.
When someone has been in the hospital, just had a baby, or going through a difficult time, it is nice to know that they do not have to worry about a meal for their family. You do not have to be a great cook, just the willingness to provide and deliver a meal when needed. If time is an issue, but you want to be a part of the meal ministry, you can always cook ahead of time and bring a frozen meal to the church. A freezer will be stocked with breads, desserts and homemade casseroles. Click here to sign up and start serving.
N.O.T.E. Ministry (Notes Offered To Encourage)
When was the last time you received a handwritten note in the mail? When someone is walking through a difficult situation, notes may be the only “ray of hope” they receive that day. If you enjoy encouraging others, the NOTE ministry is the place for you to serve. Click here to sign up and start serving.
